Yoga for Beginners, what is it all about?

Are you taking a yoga class for the first time and wondering what it maybe like or you think you have to be flexible to come along. Then think again, yoga is about taking the time to connect to your body, often in our busy life we only notice when something doesn't move or causes us pain.

In my hatha yoga classes I encourage you to connect to your body and feel how the body is in the physical pose , where are you limitations and your strength. To create movement in the body we ask you to connect to your breath, allow the breath to create the movement. Using your inhalation to start the movement and our exhalation to relax and soften into the pose. If you are reading this for the first time , don't be alarmed with regular practice and guidance in class, you will start to experience this. Rome wasn't ' built in a day it takes practice, your practice. If you take home one thing after class and practice it daily for a short time say 5 minutes you may experience changes faster. Yoga is about releasing the physical and emotional tension that we carry around in our body and connecting to our higher self or spiritual self.

Breath techniques vary in class, can be used at the beginning or end of a class to calm, balance, de stress or energise you. Relaxation at the end of the class is your chance to rest and relax the physical body after the posture sequence, we can add in great awareness and mantra to deepen the experience.

I invite you to try yoga for yourself over a period and see what impact it has for you. Enjoy your yoga experience, we all have our own journeys, for which I am eternally grateful, now I have the gift to teach and share with you.
