Excema the common skin condition

Posted on 1 April, 2015 at 18:30

Skin conditions are often unsightly, can cause extreme discomfort, itchiness, irritation to many things and we can spend a lot of time trying to find a cue. Over my years practicing as a naturopath , I have seen many many skin conditons, and excema is the most common. Some excema’s develop in early childhood and can indicate an intolerance to dairy forumula or other food origin. For a parent this can be very distressing and frustrating your once happy infant is irritable, scratching and you get to deal with it, 24 hours a day. There is many great over the counter topical preparations to try, calendula, rosehip, licourice, pawpaw just to name a few. For some they work instantly and results are lasting , if the condition is more chronic often the results are hit and miss, and individuals go from one cream to the next, trying to find the miracle cure. Over many years of treating excema, and food intolerances I have learnt that there is a much deeper aspect to some excema and it is more than just taking away food. If people are reacting to one food group they will often react to other food groups or food additives and become more sensitive in general and then the diet can be very limiting and restrictive, supper hard for parents with young children.

The key to realize is that chronic excema is linked to an immune response that is out of balance and producing lots of inflammatory hormones. Naturopathic treatment involves regulating the immune response, thru the use of dietary probiotics, herbal and homeopathic support, for the skin and other elimination organs. Get healthy herbal drops for skin relief are a great first line treatment.
