Simple Mediation Practice

Posted on 9 December, 2014 at 17:20

If you are wanting a simple way to unwind at this time of year, and prepare for my meditation classes in February, try this simpe technique, that you can do in 5-10 minutes.  It develops the process of concentration.

Find a comfortable seated postion or lying if preferred.

Take the breath awareness to the nostrils, feel the cool flow of breath in at the nostril and the warm flow out.  Continue to concentrate on the breath at the nostrils, ideally do this for 5 minutes, build up to this if you find this difficult.  The more you do this the time will fly.

Remove the attention from the nostrils and with the eyes still closed.  Take your attendtion to the mind space, looking from the back of the head and use the back of the forehead as your internal viewing screen. Be here for 1-3 minutes.  Let different thougths, patterns or colours pass thru the mind without paying attention.

Congratulations you have just completed a simple round of concentration.  Practice 1-2x per day for a week or so and observe for any changes.
